We woke up at 5:00 a.m. and hit the road for Hamamatsu, Shizuoka.
Our first stop was Kanerin, where we enjoyed a delicious grilled eel lunch.
We started with a whole serving of shirayaki (grilled eel without sauce).
For the main course, I chose the premium unaju. It was incredible! May my luck keep climbing, just like an eel swimming upstream!
To finish, we enjoyed fresh melon for dessert. It was a truly special time, sharing a delicious meal together as a family of three. 🍈✨
Next, we made our way to East Izu and checked into our hotel.
The three of us had an amazing time at the night pool. Since it was far too hot during the day, swimming at night was incredibly comfortable.
After enjoying the pool, we unwound in the open-air hot spring. Later, back in our room, nothing tasted better than a cold glass of local craft beer.
The next morning, we watched the 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff on TV. The match between France and England ended 6-4, and it was an incredibly exciting game. ⚽📺
We woke up to a beautiful, sunny morning. ☀️
The pool had been taken over by little kids, so we headed to the beach instead.
After spending time at the beach, we treated ourselves to a refreshing glass of the local New Summer Orange juice. It was absolutely delicious! 🍊🌊
After checking out of the hotel, we stopped by Atami on our way back to Tokyo. 🚗🌊
For lunch, we enjoyed sushi at one of our favorite restaurants, a place we visit every time we come to Atami. 🍣
Whenever we order 12 salmon and ikura rolls, the staff always double-checks by asking, “Are you sure you meant to order twelve?”😆
Before heading home, we stopped by a local supermarket to pick up some local specialties and a watermelon as souvenirs. The drive back to Tokyo was slowed by heavy traffic from an accident, but we had a wonderful long weekend together. 🍉🚗
